夏の早朝、4時半頃に目覚めると、私たちの一日は犬の散歩でスタートします。家を出て、まだ静まり返ってる辺りを一時間ほど歩くのが日課なんです。その際、手放せないのがよく冷えた水出しコーヒー。ステンレスボトルに入れて乾いた喉を潤すのが習慣になっています。何より朝の静かな空気を感じながら飲むコーヒーは最高です。

水出しコーヒーのなかでも一滴一滴、時間をかけて抽出する滴下式コーヒー。水のままで低温で抽出されるので油分が抽出液に溶け込まず、マイルドな味わいに。冷蔵庫でキンキンに冷やしてスッキリと、あるいは氷を入れたグラスに注いで〈カフェノマのYouTubeチャンネルより〉。

水出しコーヒー

水出しコーヒーは苦みや雑味が少ないマイルドな味わいが好みで、毎日切らさないように作っては冷蔵庫に保存し、一日に何度となく楽しんでいます。

滴下式のiwakiのsnowdropシリーズ。これに出会ってからすっかりそのまろやかな味わいにハマってしまいました。ピチャン、ピチャンとしずくが落ちる音もなんだか環境音のような響きがあって落ち着きます。

ハンドドリップ

自宅でコーヒーと言えばお馴染みの、ハンドドリップコーヒー。氷がたっぷり入ったサーバーに抽出するドリップコーヒーは、見た目にも涼しげ。濃いめに淹れたコーヒーが氷に触れて、じわじわと色を変えていくその様子をみるのも癒やされます。

デザートアイスコーヒー

時にはアイスコーヒーをデザート的に楽しむことも。私のおすすめは、オレンジコーヒー。意外な組み合わせに思われるかもしれませんが、これがさっぱりとして蒸し暑い日にぴったりなんです。

少し濃いめに作ったアイスコーヒーに、オレンジを絞り入れ、シロップを加えてよくかき混ぜます。その酸味と甘さがお互いを引き立てあって、まるで紅茶のようにさわやかな後味。コーヒーが苦手な人にもぜひ試して欲しい一杯です。

シロップはときどき作り置きしています。基本は甘味と水分を同量いれて火にかけ溶ければ出来上がりです。例えば砂糖50gに対して水50gです。写真はコーヒーで作ったコーヒーシロップ。

アイスコーヒーを楽しむ方法は様々です。同じ豆を使っても、淹れ方を変えるだけで、また新しい味わいに出会えることもあります。家でのんびりと試行錯誤しながら、自分だけの「これぞ！」という一杯を探すのも、ひとつの楽しみ方ですね。

During this time, my indispensable companion is a well-chilled cold brew coffee. We have made it a habit to keep it in a stainless steel bottle to quench our early morning thirst. Above all, drinking coffee while feeling the quiet morning air is simply the best.

In the realm of cold brew coffee, there's the drip method, which extracts coffee drop by drop over a period of time. As it's brewed at low temperatures without heat, the coffee's oils don't blend into the liquid, giving it a mild taste. It's very refreshing when thoroughly chilled in the refrigerator. Cold Brew Coffee

I prefer the mild taste of cold brew coffee with less bitterness and off-flavor. I always make sure to prepare it every day, store it in the refrigerator, and enjoy it multiple times throughout the day.

I've been completely hooked on the smooth taste of the Iwaki Snowdrop series of drip-style coffee makers since I encountered them. The sound of the drops falling, "drip, drip," has a calming, ambient sound to it.

Hand Drip

When it comes to making coffee at home, the familiar method is hand-dripped coffee. Drip coffee, brewed into a server full of ice, looks cool and inviting. Seeing the intensely brewed coffee gradually changing color as it touches the ice is a soothing sight.

Dessert Iced Coffee

At times, I enjoy iced coffee as a dessert. My recommendation is orange coffee. Although it may seem like an unusual combination, it is perfect for a hot, humid day with its refreshing flavor.

Make your iced coffee a bit stronger than usual, squeeze some orange into it, and stir well after adding syrup. The acidity and sweetness enhance each other, leaving a refreshing aftertaste, similar to tea. It's a cup I'd like even coffee skeptics to try.

I sometimes make syrup in advance. The basic method is to combine equal amounts of sweetener and water and heat until dissolved. For example, 50g of sugar to 50g of water. The picture shows coffee syrup made with coffee.

There are various ways to enjoy iced coffee. Even with the same beans, just changing the brewing method can lead to a new taste experience. It's also fun to experiment at home, searching for your perfect 'Eureka!' cup of coffee.
