# 日常に馴染むチーク古材のダイニングテーブル

10年ほど前、我が家にやってきたチークウッドのダイニングテーブル。目黒のBRUNCH（当時BRUCH+)でみつけたチーク材のテーブルです。購入当時、スタッフに聞いたところ、天板はもともと枕木として利用されていた古材なんだそうです。

よく見ると釘穴のような痕も、むしろ「味わい」のひとつに感じられます
このチーク古材テーブルを選ぶ決め手は、どんな空間にも馴染むその存在感。釘の痕や傷が残る天板の味わいが部屋全体に温かみをもたらしてくれるようで、永らく愛用しています。

とくに目を引くのは、テーブルの木目の美しさ。なにげなく木目に目をやって過ごす「コーヒー時間」が少しづつ増えたような気もします。
友人が来たとき、その存在感に目を引かれ、どこで手に入れたのかと質問されることも多くなりました。一見、普通の木製テーブルですが、古材家具特有の味わいが独特の存在感を醸し出してくれます。
## チークウッド ダイニングテーブルのおすすめポイント
“部屋はまとまりつつも、何か物足りなさを感じる”、そういう人にぜひおすすめしたいのがこのテーブル。ただし、床の色がテーブルと同じ茶系の場合は、椅子の選択を工夫してみるのもアリです。椅子はメリハリを効かせて、対象的な色の組み合わせを試してみるのも良いかもしれません。たとえば白っぽく、滑らかな素材のものなど。テーブルを選ぶ際は、部屋全体の印象が重くならないようにバランスを取りつつ、メリハリを効かせると良いと思います。
奥行き70cmのテーブル。4人座れますが、食事をすると少し狭く感じるかもしれません。ダイニングテーブルとして使用の際は少人数が向いています。
## 経年変化を楽しむ
10年経った今でも、テーブルは劣化するどころか、色合いが深まり、一層魅力を増しています。オイルフィニッシュの仕上げが、木の質感を保ちつつ、時間の経過と共に変化するその姿を楽しめるのです。
天板はフラットではないので字を書くのは難しいかもしれません。
